The Portugal international blasted Group F opponents Iceland for having 'small mentalities' after their 1-1 draw, and despite criticism his agent has backed the forward

'Ronaldo is the best athlete ever... and the greatest person in the world!'

Cristiano Ronaldo is the best athlete the world has ever seen and the greatest person on Earth, according to his agent Jorge Mendes.

The Portuguese super agent's comments came after Ronaldo's dismissive comments regarding his country's 1-1 draw with Iceland, in which he claimed their Group F opponents had a 'small mentality'.

However, following criticism, Mendes was quick to back his man, claiming he is a perfect example for society and that he is a great person, father and friend.

"Cristiano is the best athlete in the world and of all time," he told O Jogo. “And if there were a prize to distinguish the best person, he would also win it because he's a great father and friend.

"Cristiano is the best example for our society and youth. Not only is he known for his footballing quality but also in terms of humanity.

"He's an example of determination and ambition on and off the field."
